Press of Atlantic City - Newspaper Sunday, June 08, 2003 SPEED, MARY THERESA VIOLET, 81, of Villas, and formerly of Philadelphia, PA, died on Thursday, June 5, 2003 at home, surrounded by her loving family following a courageous struggle with cancer. Born in Philadelphia on December 31, 1921, Violet worked for Strawbridge and Clothier for 19 years before moving to Villas in 1980. She was a member of St. Raymond's Church, Villas and a lifetime member of the Miraculous Medal Association in Philadelphia. Violet enjoyed her time in the garden, on the beach, in her pool, and entering the Publisher's Clearinghouse Contest every year, but her greatest joy was her devotion to her husband, Albert, her children, and grandchildren. Known as "Aunt Vi" and Mom Mom, Violet touched many lives with her love, compassion, and humility. She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Albert (Pop Pop); her son, Gregory and daughter-in-law Arlene; her daughter, Karen McGeehan and son-in-law Bob McGeehan; and grandchildren, Dawn Speed, Raffaele Capone, Matt Speed and Anthony Capone. Violet is predeceased by her sisters, Anna Marie and Frances and brother, Harry. She was the oldest child of Harry and Anna Mc Anany. Services will be held on Tuesday, June 10, 2003 at St. Raymond's Church,. Bayshore Rd., Villas, where friends and family may call from 10:00 -11:00 a.m. A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated to honor her life at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place thereafter at the Cape May County Veterans Cemetery, Cape May Court House.
