Press of Atlantic City Thursday, May 08, 2003 BETHEL, JOHN HORACE, 90, of Cape May Court House, died on Tuesday, May 6, 2003 at Burdette Tomlin Memorial Hospital. He was born in Cape May Court House to the late William John and Ethel D. (Richardson) Bethel and was a lifetime resident of this area. He earlier attended the First Baptist Church of Cape May Court House. He was a 32nd degree Mason of Cannon Lodge #104, an exempt Middle Township fireman, a former Shriner, and a former shipbuilder at Stowman's Shipyard. He was an avid duck hunter and fisherman, loved motorcycling, and enjoyed camping. During World War II, he was a civil service employee for the Naval Department as a tug boat captain in Pearl Harbor. Mr. Bethel is survived by his son, Bob of Cape May Court House; his step daughter, Carol McLaughlan of Erma; his five grandchildren; and his three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary, on February 8, 2002. Funeral services are private.
