Welcome to the Cape May County, New Jersey webpage, a place of genealogical resources, history & families.  This is a collaborative effort to share information as it pertains to Cape May County and its various townships.  We welcome you back in time on the way to Cape May.

Cape May County's first inhabitants were the Kechemeche Indians when Cornelius Jacobsen Mey (a Dutch explorer) first explored this region in 1621.  The first white settlers purchased a 4 mile tract of land from the Indians in 1630 extending from Cape May Point up the Bay.  By 1692 Cape May County was first organized from Western New Jersey.  Read more of Cape May History
